Here we are in the middle of July, It does however mean we are ever closer to spring and getting back out on the water. We have had a busy few months here at Nautiques NZ, Here is a look at what we have been up to…
2011 Water Ski Nationals
The last week of March had us down in Christchurch at Lake Crichton for the “Nautiques NZ 2011 Water ski Nationals”. Only a couple of weeks before the start date there was doubt surrounding the nationals being held due to the devastating quake in February, Many of the Canterbury team and organising committee were affected by the quake but they decided to push on and get the job done.
Despite the cold weather and wind there was some great skiing displayed by all with more new records set behind the Ski Nautique 200. Congratulations to the Canterbury region for doing such a great job with the whole event.
Boat show
The 2011 Hutchwilco National Boat show was held at the ASB Show grounds over May 12th-15th, again Nautiques NZ chose to exhibit out side in our “igloo”. We were very pleased with the good level of enquiry, with visitors to the show from all over the country.
Again in 2011 we entered for the boat of the show awards Sport/Ski category with the new Sport Nautique 200. In 2010 the Ski Nautique 200 won the award, so it was great to back it up this year with the Sport also winning to make it two in a row. The new Sport 200 scored very highly with the judges in all aspects but of note were “value for money”, “build quality” and most importantly “suitability as a ski/wake boat” which is the number one reason for this models success both here and internationally. The new Sport Nautique 200 is the only world ranking approved v-drive on the market, making it an awesome slalom machine. Don’t let that fool you into thinking that is all it does! It has great wakes for surfing, Wakeboarding and Wakeskating too.
Dealer Meeting
Every June Nautique hold their annual dealer meetings at the factory in Orlando, Florida. This is the time to place our orders, see what is new and the coming changes for the next model year. While at the factory we were shown all of the new 2012 models and changes over a two day conference with dealers from all over the world attending. Highlights of the meeting were seeing the new “Scott Byerly” Super Air 210 and also the limited edition “Andy Mapple” Ski 200, With the new Mapple boat being limited to a production run of only 14 to represent Andy’s 14 Masters titles, Unfortunately we will not be seeing any here in New Zealand.
As you would expect from Nautique there are lots of exciting and new innovations, we can’t say too much right now but will update this as soon as we can.
The biggest thing for Nautiques NZ was being presented with a “Top 10 International Dealer” award, not something we had expected! For such a small country and to receive this was great.
